It’s been all hands on deck at the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary over the last month with two new adorable baby arrivals keeping the staff and volunteers busy! Misty the baby caracal and Tikoe the baboon brought a lot of energy to the sanctuary so let’s take a closer look at the bundles of fluff!

Misty The Caracal

Misty’s arrival at the sanctuary was a surprise to all of the staff, even though they knew her famous mother quite well! Alex is the star of many documentaries and television programmes which have shown just how amazing these big cats are, and when the staff in Namibia found out she was pregnant it came as quite a shock.

Fortunately, this shock soon turned into joy when Misty the chubby female cub was born! The birth went without problem and she is now growing up very quickly in her new surroundings at the Sanctuary. Misty has had fun finding her feet, and as you can see here she has spent some time interacting with the other animals at the sanctuary, this time with Ping-Ping the Siamese cat!

Tikoe The Baboon

Unfortunately, more and more baboons are turning up at the sanctuary due to a misguided belief that they make good pets. When people discover just how troublesome these extremely mischievous monkeys can be, they often abandon them. This is exactly what happened with Tikoe, as his owner discarded him and he was brought to the sanctuary.

Fortunately, this cheeky little monkey settled in remarkably quickly and found himself at the centre of not only the staff and volunteers attentions, but of his fellow baboons too! Now he is fully immersed in the baby troop, Tikoe has a newfound lust for life which he has found from being placed in the right type of environment.

We will bring you any updates we get on the progress of these two cute critters, so stay tuned!
